This Thursday, February 27th, we launched our Tibi Pop-Up Shop. Tibi is a New York based brand, created and designed by Amy Smilovic. Her collections feature colorful separates, tailored jackets, and stylish contemporary pieces.

This label is so appealing because it is always staying ahead of the contemporary curve. This season, natural fabrics and some less- structured silhouettes will be heavily featured. We’ll still be seeing some structured jackets, blazers, and tops that have been staples in the past, but for Spring 2014, Amy also introducing some playful details, such as fringe on tops and dresses. Another great feature of this line is that it is very diverse- there are simple tanks that are made of colorful, breezy silk, and then there are some edgy leather jackets, and contemporary jumpsuits and rompers.

Last week, we had the opportunity to interview our Tibi Representative, Amy Terashima about our collection for Spring 2014.

What is Tibi most well known for?

Tibi is generally known for its clean, feminine, and relaxed style. Pieces are created using classic silhouettes with contemporary and updated details.

What are some of the biggest color trends for Spring 2014?

Tibi is showing a lot of black and white this season; black and white is bold, classic, crisp, and clean. We’re also showing a lot of neutrals, which are incredibly versatile. I also love the pops of color in our Spring collection; we’re showing cayenne, which is a super saturated bright orangey red- I love it!

How would you describe the Tibi customer?

Our customer is very fashion conscious and appreciates the quality of Tibi pieces. Tibi appeals to women in their 20s, just as well as women in their 50s. It’s an excellent brand because it looks great on women of all ages and body shapes. The pieces are made to be flattering, comfortable, and stylish.

What are some of the popular trends Tibi is showing this Spring?

This season Tibi is featuring some feminine details by incorporating cutouts, fringe, and ruffles with pieces. It’s all about subtle sexiness. Nothing you see will be very tight or very short, but you’ll see small peeks of skin with crop tops, cutouts, or backless pieces. It leaves something to the imagination.
What is your favorite trend for the season?

I’m loving the jumpsuits/ romper trend because it’s so easy! You don’t have to think about anything because your entire look is in one piece. Fashion should never be too complicated. I also love that these pieces transition from day to night so easily.
